Principal's welcome

​​Mount Gravatt High is known for its high standards and welcoming community. For more than 15 years Mount Gravatt State High School has welcomed international students to our school. Each year we host more than 50 students. We provide an extensive curriculum, engaging learning and ensure our international students’ experience with us is productive and successful. International students settle quickly to Mount Gravatt High as a result of a well-planned orientation and on-going support from our ISP team. There is opportunity for international students to be involved in school leadership positions. Students who commit to their studies and who are willing to take on the challenges studying overseas presents, do well from their schooling at Mount Gravatt High.

Mount Gravatt State High School has an excellent academic, cultural, sporting and community service record. Our ethos is one of high expectations and standards, good discipline and care, where teaching and learning are prioritised.

Each year we welcome more than 60 overseas students. As well as academic, sporting and creative opportunities, we offer school trips to tourist spots and places of interest in Brisbane. We help international students with study groups and individual time management and planning sessions. Our students can participate in university courses and enter competitions in public speaking, science and maths.

We encourage you to hold school leadership positions and will acknowledge your achievements with a special graduation ceremony at the end of Year 12.

Homestay and accommodation

By living with an Australian host family international students become part of the local community and have a fantastic opportunity to practise their English in a safe and caring home environment.

Students have their own bedroom with study facilities, three meals a day, and access to transport to and from school, and to school activities.
